On September 18, 2010 about 20 of us gathered at Jack Parker's for our annual Fall picnic outing. As usual, we opened the afternoon informally by visiting with each other and swapping stories. Later in the afternoon, Jack Haynes conducted an excellent clinic on how to make first class railings from stock brass wire. Dave Chance followed this up by leading a discussion on the NMRA judging criteria for structures, locomotives, and rolling stock. Then it was, once again, time to eat... and eat we did in the finest picnic style.
After the meal, Jack invited us all to the P&W to participate in a special "Quiz Session". He had prepared a list of questions about the railroad and we were asked to find the answers by going through and looking at things we normally don't look at during an operating session. In addition to increasing our familiarity with the P&W, this focused 'discovery session' gave us the opportunity to truly appreciate the superb modeling and attention to detail that Jack has achieved on his masterpiece pike. Thanks Jack for being such a gracious host.

This movie slide show gives some highlights of the day.
